A la Carte Server Job Summary
  • $11.53 an hour + Tips
  • Must have availability to work a varied schedule between 11am and 10pm including weekends and some holidays
The a la carte server provides an exceptional overall dining experience at the Firemark Grille located at Westfield Country Club. Duties include greeting guests, taking orders, operating a Point of Sale system, delivering food and beverages and anticipating the guests’ needs throughout their visit.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Provides an exceptional overall dining experience at the Firemark Grille located at Westfield Country Club.

2. Greets guests as they are seated at their tables and communicates any chef’s specials or any pertinent information the guest may need.

3. Takes food and beverage orders from the guests in a timely manner.

4. Rings orders accurately and promptly into the Point of Sale system.

5. Communicates directly to the kitchen of any special guest requests including, but not limited to, allergies and dietary restrictions.

6. Delivers food from the kitchen to the table.

7. Pre-busses the table by removing plates, glassware, silverware and trash as soon as the guest is finished.

8. Delivers the check to the table, collects payment and properly closes out the check.

9. Attends daily line-ups to review any chef specials, soup of the day, reservations, table sections, upcoming events and proper uniform check.

10. Prepares the dining room and server station for daily operations.

11. Knowledge of the ingredients of the menu items and how they are prepared.

12. Multi-task various front of the house duties during the shift.

13. Stocks waiter service area with supplies such as glassware, straws, ice, iced tea, lemonade, coffee, lemons and limes.

14. Cleans tables, chairs, and floors after the guest leaves and prepares the table for the next guest.

15. Builds relationships with co-workers and guests.

16. Complies with all OSHA and Westfield safety/training/certification standards within required timeframes.

17. Consistently reports to work on time and completes shifts, as scheduled.

18. May travel between Westfield on campus locations as needed.

19. Arrives to work with a neat and clean appearance and follows Westfield’s Universal Standards.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. Must be 19 years of age or older due to the serving of alcoholic beverages.

2. Previous a la carte serving experience in the food service industry.

3. Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays.

4. Strong organizational and multitasking skills

5. Ability to maintain a high degree of customer service focus.

6. Must be able to work in a team environment.

7. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

8. High school diploma, GED or demonstrated commensurate experience.

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

* Ability to remain on feet, standing and walking, for extended periods of time throughout the work day.

* Ability to maintain movement, bend, reach, lift and carry 40lbs.

* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: POS terminals, telephone, computer, web, voice, e-mail, etc.

* Ability to climb stairs.

* Ability to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

* Ability to travel as required.
