From concept and design, to the final touches and updates, our Developers are continuously bringing new ideas and solutions to the table to meet the desired needs of our business.   Your expertise in coding and/or software engineering ensures you’ll be delivering innovative solutions for a user-friendly application or program for Westfield.  A strong desire to apply your expertise/knowledge is a must in the following areas/technologies: Java, Mulesoft, and Service Integration Experience.  Experience with Agile approach/methodologies are preferred but not required. 

 

Application Developer 2 Job Summary

Location:  Westfield Center, OH Home Office

Salary Range:  $84,929 - $110,407

 

An Application Developer 2 works under moderate supervision and oversight in a production support and/or project team environment to deliver both custom-developed and package-based software.  Uses standard processes to code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the software development lifecycle. At this level, the Application Developer 2 will learn to begin designing. The Application Developer 2 also analyzes and corrects incidents and defects of low to moderate complexity in a timely and accurate fashion and provides status reports as required. An Application Developer 2 can support a variety of technologies that may include, but are not limited to, the following: Java and related tools, Mainframe and related tools, PeopleSoft and related tools, ECM, Cognos.

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

  1. Works under moderate supervision and oversight in a production support and/or project team environment to deliver both custom-developed and package-based software.
  2. Assists translating business and system requirements into technical requirements and design documents for the proposed solution.
  3. Uses standard processes to code, test, and analyze software programs and applications.
  4. Contributes to estimates, and performs coding and unit testing for custom-developed applications.
  5. Performs quality assurance functions including unit testing, system testing, and integration testing.
  6. Provides production support to existing applications as needed.
  7. Responsible for ensuring security standards are met and business continuity activities are completed as needed.
  8. May participate in requirements gathering efforts and test plan coordination.
  9. May assist in coordinating and directing remote resources.
  10. Adheres to software development lifecycle and service management processes.
  11. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant technology, tools, processes and related best practices.
  12. May coordinate projects or initiatives of low to moderate complexity. 
  13. Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations.

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

  1. A minimum of 3 years’ experience performing application development and/or production support. 
  2. 2+ years’ experience successfully working on low to moderate complexity assignments/ projects.
  3. 2+ years’ experience with enterprise development concepts as it related to code management, quality standards, and security requirements.
  4. Actively learns through experimentation when handling new situations/problems and utilizes lessons from past success and failures.
  5. Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
  6. Experience analyzing and solving low to moderate complexity problems 
  7. Solid oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  8. Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience.
  9. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to travel as required.
