Assistant Golf Professional - Tournament Operations Job Summary

  • $14.89 - $17.00 an hour
  • Position will work approximately 38-40 hours per week April - November

The Assistant Golf Professional is a development role focused on assisting in the day-to-day golf operations at Westfield Group Country Club while building skills and experience associated with a career as a Golf Professional.  Under close supervision of the First Assistant Golf Professional, daily responsibilities include golfer registration and point of sale operations in the golf shop. As directed, assists with the execution and development of all Golf Association programs. 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. With guidance and direction from the Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Golf Professional, greets members, employees, agents and guests and provides immediate attention as necessary to all members and guests in accordance to the Westfield Hospitality standards.

2. As directed, assists in planning and coordination of corporate golf events. Attends meetings as required.

3. As directed, promotes interest and assists with the execution of all Country Club golf related events and Country Club Association events including Men’s, Women’s 18 hole and Women’s 9 hole Associations and Golf Corporate Intermural Association.

4. In accordance with current procedures and policies, schedules tee times and golfer registration.

5. As assigned, assists in providing instruction to junior golf program, corporate lessons and private instruction.

6. Participates in the development of teaching programs as directed including: junior golf lessons, group lessons, conducts private lessons as time allows, and conducts corporate lessons as required by management.

7. Assists with all golf club repairs, relationship with outside vendors related to repairs, and the billing of repairs.

8. Performs custom club fittings.

9. As directed, plays golf with club members of all skill levels.

10. Regular operation of golf carts and/or other maintenance vehicles in order to accomplish other essential functions outlined above. May have additional travel requirements to fulfill essential functions.

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. Successful Completion of Level One of PGM OR Comparable golf experience level.

2. Successful Completion of Playing Ability Test (PAT) OR Comparable golf experience level.

3. Experience using computer with Microsoft Windows and Office or transferable software.

4. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that complies with company standards.

5. High School diploma or GED or commensurate experience.

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role) 

The physical demands described herein represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to, at least occasionally, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, sit, stand, walk over varying terrain, lift and carry objects weighing over 35 pounds.  Additional requirements include:

• Ability to golf multiple rounds in a day. 

• Ability to remain on feet the majority of the workday.

• Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.

• Ability to travel as required.

• Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
