Housekeeper Job Summary

  • $9.34 an hour
  • 20-40 hours per week
  • This position will be located at the Westfield Inn.

As directed, the Housekeeper performs daily responsibilities associated with the cleaning and maintaining of the 64-room Westfield Inn.  Areas to be cleaned and maintained include; lodging rooms, public spaces, laundry, and areas related to the operation of the facility. Responsibilities also include clear communication with all departments throughout the Inn, to ensure Westfield’s high quality standards.


Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

  1. Maintains Westfield’s high quality standards while performing housekeeping duties
  2. Operates equipment, cleaning tools, and supplies including but not limited to upright and hand-held vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, clothes washer and dryer, mops, brooms, brushes, cloths, and chemical cleaners.
  3. Works independently after receiving assignment and focuses on maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.
  4. Cleans and sanitizes guest rooms, common areas, and restroom facilities maintaining Westfield’s high quality standards.
  5. Performs nightly turndown service for guests, when applicable.
  6. Assists others on the team as needed to ensure work is completed and a high level of customer service is maintained.
  7. Monitors and maintains proper inventory levels of housekeeping supplies.
  8. Performs deep cleaning at the facility, which may include moving of furniture and the use of special cleaning equipment.
  9. Reports all information regarding room and or facility issues to leadership in a timely manner.

10.  Achieves the high standards of quality, production, cooperation, and service set by Westfield Group for our employees, guest and customers.

  1. Complies with all OSHA and Westfield safety/training/certification standards within required timeframes.
  2. As assigned, may be required to drive Westfield Inn Shuttle Vehicle (e.g. car, van, shuttle) to transport guests between Home Office campus facilities. Completes all related training and maintains compliance with all safety/operating procedures.


Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1.    Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team.

2.    Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, focusing on attention to detail.

3.    Familiarity with standard housekeeping equipment, tools and supplies (ex: hand-held vacuum, carpet cleaner, mops, clothes washer and dryers, brooms and chemical cleaners.)

4.    Ability to effectively communicate and receive instructions from leader, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in writing.

5.    High School diploma, GED or commensurate experience.

6.    If assigned to operate Inn Shuttle, required to possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.


Physical Requirements (specific to the role)                                            

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

·         Ability to remain on feet, standing and walking for the majority of the workday.

·         Ability to maintain movement, bend, reach, lift and carry 40lbs.

·         Ability to have close and regular contact with cleaning and laundry supplies/chemicals.

·         Ability to tolerate dust associated with cleaning rooms.

·         Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, e-mail, etc.

·         Ability to climb steps.

·         Ability to travel (within campus, to other locations ex. Blair, Club, Corp. Dining etc.)

·         Ability to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·         If assigned to operate Inn Shuttle, Ability to operate a vehicle (e.g. car, van, shuttle) within the parameters of the driving policy.
