Commercial Lines Product Manager

Location: Open to remote work within Westfield’s operating territory.

 

The Commercial Lines (CL) Product Manager will have Profit and Loss (P/L) accountability for a  commercial product lines across Small Business and Middle Market Business Segments for PA/MD and DE.   Additional responsibilities may include accountability for state expansion/new state entry or large Broker/Agency Sales Center relationships. This position reports to the Commercial Lines Product Management Leader and works in close partnership with other functional areas to drive product strategy across the organization.

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

  1. P/L accountability for state/regional assignments across all Small Business and Middle Market Commercial Lines of Business.   
  2. Achieves underwriting profit and growth objectives through product, pricing, underwriting, and other actions in close partnership with cross-functional team members.
  3. Works with the CL product management team and key stakeholders to develop multi-year customer-centric product strategy for assigned product(s)/state(s).
  4. Communicates the product vision and value proposition to the distribution organization so that the product is properly positioned to customers and agents.
  5. Aggressively monitors growth/mix/loss results to ensure early identification, diagnosis, and response to changing trends. 
  6. Acquires and shares market and competitive intelligence and develops knowledge of emerging trends to effectively compete in a rapidly changing environment

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

  1. 5+ years of P&C industry experience with 3+ years of experience in product management, actuarial, and/or analytical positions.
  2. Strong analytical skills to make timely, appropriate decisions and recommendations after reviewing all relevant information.
  3. Strong leadership acumen
  4. Natural curiosity for identifying and analyzing problems and developing strategies for resolution.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing, and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to travel as required.
