LOCATION: SEVILLE, OH
SALARY RANGE: $49,980.00-64,973.00

PLEASE NOTE: On rotating weeks, below is the work schedule;
Week 1:
Monday 8am-1pm (work office) and 5pm-8pm (home).
Tuesday 8am-5pm (work office)
Wednesday 8am-5pm (work office)
Thursday 8am-1pm (work office) and 5pm-8pm (home).
Friday (off)
Saturday 10am-4pm (work office)

Week 2:
Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm

Consumer Loan Underwriter Job Summary

The Consumer Loan Underwriter reviews loan application for completeness and analyzes applicant’s financial status, collateral, credit and income to determine feasibility of granting the loan request. Approves and rejects loans according to bank guidelines and policies. Meets standards and objectives defined by management for consumer loan underwriting. Consults or corresponds with loan officers, auto dealers, applicants and/or creditors to resolve issues regarding loan applications. Cultivates and enhances existing relationships with auto dealerships. Represents Westfield Bank to potential external customers for the purpose of developing consumer loans. Helps ensure accuracy and completeness of loan documents.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Reviews loan application for completeness and analyzes applicant’s financial status, collateral, credit and income to determine feasibility of granting the loan request.

2. Approves and rejects loans according to bank guidelines and policies; meets standards and objectives defined by management for consumer loan underwriting.

3. Consults or corresponds with loan officers, auto dealers, applicants and/or creditors to resolve issues regarding loan application.

4. Helps maintain existing dealer relationships for our indirect lending program.

5. Corresponds with loan officers and auto dealers to communicate conditions, approvals and denials.

6. Delivers appropriate papers to loan processing and assists processing function as needed.

7. Responds to post closing, audit and loan reviews in a timely manner.

8. Provides monthly reports to management.

9. Conducts research on competitor’s pricing and industry best practices to recommend changes to guidelines, policy, pricing, etc.

10. Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with the Bank's internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for this position.

11. Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.

12. Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. 2+ years of experience as a consumer indirect loan underwriter.

2. 3+ years of experience in consumer lending.

3. Complete knowledge of consumer origination, underwriting, and funding process gained through previous work experiences.

4. Experience analyzing problems and developing strategies for resolution gained through previous work assignments.

5. Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office (specifically using dashboards in Excel) or other transferable software packages.

6. Strong organizational skills gained through previous work experiences.

7. Experience utilizing excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of employees within the organization and with external customers.

8. Experience working independently and as part of a team.

9. Strong customer service skills.

10. Ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative via an entrepreneurial spirit.

11. Experience analyzing financial statements.

12. Experience being accurate with a focus on attention to details via previous work assignments.

13. Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing work via previous work assignments.

14. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

15. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

* Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).

* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.

* Ability to travel as required.
