Food Service Worker Job Summary

  • $10.91 an hour
  • 24 hours per week

As directed, the Food Service Worker performs varies tasks such as dishwashing, operating a POS terminal, and/or serves cafeteria food at one of the following locations; Westfield Market, Café 1881, Blair Center, Inn or the Country Club. The Food Service Worker is responsible for upholding food safety and Westfield standards

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Prepares work area for daily operations by making sure their designated work stations are properly stocked and sanitized, as well as assisting with food prep and any other related duties.

2. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the cafeteria and kitchen in compliance with all food safety and Westfield Hospitality standards of quality.

3. Greets customers courteously, answers questions professionally and accurately and escalates issues to leadership as necessary.

4. Works cooperatively and effectively with peers and leadership to complete team tasks, serve as back-up for other team members as assigned and minimize customer service issues.

5. Fulfills customer requests by serving food from the deli, prepared food stations, salad bar and other cafeteria-style areas.

6. Maintains an operating knowledge of hospitality operations systems and applications. Performs a wide variety of duties which may include: tallying bills, receiving payments and cashing out customers using the cash register and/or credit card machine.

7. Gains knowledge of available daily offerings and answers questions about available food items.

8. Achieves the high standards of quality, production, cooperation, and service set by Westfield Group for our employees, guests and customers.

9. Complies with all OSHA and Westfield safety/training/certification standards within required timeframes.

10. Consistently reports to work on time and completes shifts, as scheduled.

11. May travel between Westfield on-campus facilities as needed.

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the hospitality industry.

2. Demonstrated strong oral and interpersonal skills resulting in the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.

3. Demonstrated focus on customer service.

4. High school diploma, GED or demonstrated commensurate experience.

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role) 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Ability to remain on feet, standing and walking for the majority of the workday.

• Ability to maintain movement, bend, reach, lift and carry 40lbs.

• Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, e-mail, etc.

• Ability to travel as required.
