IT Enterprise Analyst 2 Job Summary


Salary Range: $63,592 - $73,130 - $82,670


As a member of the IT (Information Technology) Portfolio or Financial Management team, the IT Enterprise Analyst 2, working under moderate supervision, ensures on time and quality deliverables (e.g. reports, analyses, deliverables) through gathering financial and project portfolio data. The IT Enterprise Analyst 2 analyzes varying types of data from a variety of sources in an effort to provide leadership potential impacts, options, and recommendations. An IT Enterprise Analyst 2 is typically assigned one of two areas to work in:

• Financial Analysis

o Partners with IT leadership to drive multi-year expense management plan.

o Participates in the budget creation process within IT and serves as a liaison to Corporate Financial Management.

o Serves as an asset owner for key financial reporting deliverables.

• Portfolio Management

o Facilitates and coordinates efforts in IT to ensure established project portfolio definitions, structures, and processes are followed.

o Manages the day-to-day status and health of the portfolio.

o Serves as an asset owner for portfolio management deliverables.

o Assists with the portfolio planning function.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Gathers, organizes, and analyzes various types of data from a variety of sources ensuring on time and quality deliverables, working under moderate supervision.

A. For Financial Analysis: This includes, but is not limited to: IT expense management, key metrics, employee information, training, headcount, showback information, and departmental budgets.

B. For Portfolio Management: This includes the overall project portfolio comprised of the following: portfolio categories, criteria, evaluation, execution, external spend, and tracking.

2. Produces, analyzes, and participates in peer reviews for standard and ad hoc reports (e.g. project, portfolio, financial, employee information).

3. Based on team assigned to:

A. For Financial Analysis: Utilizes quantitative and qualitative analysis to derive findings and advises leadership of potential impacts, options, and provides recommendations.

• Conducts financial analyses of moderate complexity to determine trends, observe relationships, and create financial models.

• Contributes to the capital budget creation process within Information Technology.  Ensures accuracy and creates and distributes status reports.

• Conducts analyses and provides input to financial planning, contract management, and other activities. Supports the financial reporting function for major programs and projects as assigned.

• Performs key data collection processes and reporting, including but not limited to monthly financial forecast, software expense and depreciation, vendor reports, and salary levels.

B. For Portfolio Management: Conducts regular reviews with IT leadership and key stakeholders to validate and assess the project portfolio.

• Monitors performance of projects within the portfolio; works with project managers and IT leaders to ensure projects stay aligned to the approved business case.

• Reviews initiatives and projects that have challenges.

• Provides input across the portfolio to address challenges.

• Executes changes and reprioritization as needed to meet business needs.

• Supports management of the portfolio to ensure that prioritization and scheduling of work is in-line with annual plans, business needs, technology initiatives, and available resource capacity.

4. Collaborates with departments across the organization, such as Corporate Accounting, Planning, Program Management, IT Management, Project Management and Enterprise Architecture. 

5. Continually strives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of data collection, organization, and analyses.

6. Develops oral, written, and visual communications, including written summaries and reports, charts and graphs, and other visual aids in creating presentations for Leadership.


Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1.  Experience with and knowledge of the following by assigned area:

• Financial Analysis: 3+ years’ financial experience including strong financial and/or business acumen.

• Portfolio Management: Knowledge of project management concepts/acumen gained through previous work experiences or training.

2. 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office including leveraging advanced functionality in Excel. In addition,

• For Financial Analysis: Experience with proficient functionality in MS Access.

• For Portfolio Management: Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, KanBan, Trello)

3. 3+ years’ experience collecting and analyzing data, identifying trends, establishing facts, and recommending solutions.

4. Experience analyzing problems and developing strategies for resolution gained through previous work assignments.

5. Experience collaborating cross-functionally and working with other departments to solve problems.

6. Experience working independently and managing several deliverables simultaneously.

7. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills gained via previous work experiences.

8. Experience being accurate with a focus on attention to details via previous work assignments.

9. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Accounting, Statistics, or related field OR commensurate experience.

10. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

Physical Requirements (specific to the role) 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).

• Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.

• Ability to travel as required.
