Learning Leader Job Summary 
The Learning Leader develops and leads Westfield’s corporate learning strategy, and associated measurement strategy, to enable the achievement of business objectives.  Ensures learning and development activities are aligned to Westfield’s broader Talent Strategy.  Partners with the Talent Leader, HR Business Partners, and key stakeholders to ensure strategic linkage between business needs and learning solutions.  Serves as a key decision-maker for organizational learning needs related to Leadership Development, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), professional skills and compliance training; includes targeted learning solutions for diverse talent segments, to enable development and retention of diverse talent.  Leverages networks, memberships, and professional associations to understand prevailing learning trends in the marketplace.  Coaches the corporate learning team and Learning Community of Practice to enable solutions that drive flexibility, speed and learning innovation.  Owns the Leadership Development curriculum design, development, and execution.  Aligns learning and development solutions to Westfield talent principles and career stages; drives a continuous learning and growth mindset that builds leadership and organizational capability to support current and future skill needs.    

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

  • Develops and leads Westfield’s corporate learning strategy, and associated measurement strategy, to enable the achievement of business objectives.  Ensures learning and development activities are aligned to Westfield’s broader Talent Strategy.  Ensures the learning infrastructure (e.g. technology, vendors, marketing) is cost effective and positioned to support the strategy.
  • Partners with the Talent Leader, HR Business Partners, and key stakeholders to ensure strategic linkage between business needs and learning solutions.  Serves as a key decision-maker for organizational learning needs related to Leadership Development, Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), professional skills and compliance training; includes targeted learning solutions for diverse talent segments, to enable development and retention of diverse talent.
  • Leverages networks, memberships, and professional associations to understand prevailing learning trends in the marketplace. Collaborates with and coaches the Corporate Curriculum Manager, Instructional Designer, Learning Community of Practice members, and vendor partners to enable solutions that drive flexibility, speed and learning innovation; partners with the Change Management Leader to create plans that drive adoption of new learning approaches.
  • Owns the Leadership Development curriculum design, development, implementation, and measurement.  Aligns learning and development solutions to Westfield talent principles and career stages; drives a continuous learning and growth mindset that builds leadership and organizational capability to support current and future skill needs.  Ensures experiential learning is leveraged to accelerate leader readiness and maximize growth.    
  • Leads a team of learning professionals who understand, design, develop and implement adult learning principles and create compelling interactive learning solutions that provide just-in-time right-sized learning experiences.    
  • In collaboration with the procurement office, drives contract negotiations for Learning and Development investments, and establishes performance expectations for strategic vendor partners.  Meets with vendors quarterly to review key relationship metrics, performance SLAs and overall return on investment.
  • Ensures alignment of Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning and Development, and Change Management practices and solutions and identifies opportunities for integration and connectivity across the talent lifecycle.
  • Integrates Westfield’s Employer Value Proposition (EVP) and associated messaging in all relevant learning solutions and experiences to reinforce the organization’s commitment to personal growth and development, ensuring a positive employee experience that reflects Westfield values and culture.  
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including employee selection, performance management, coaching, and development.  Manages priorities and workload distribution and removes barriers that impede progress.  Completes all personnel, salary administration, and reporting duties.  Performs operational responsibilities that drive team performance including planning, execution, process improvement and best-practice sharing.  
  • May be required to facilitate adult learning.
  • Creates annual budget and completion of monthly budget variance reporting and forecasts.  Is accountable for expenditures of the department.
  • Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

  • Ten (10+) years of experience leading a corporate learning function responsible for the end-to-end design, delivery implementation and measurement of learning solutions. 
  • Seven (7+) years of experience of Leadership Development curriculum experience, including curriculum design, development, implementation, and measurement of results.
  • Experience with direct people leadership experience with increased responsibility, including coaching and developing direct or indirect reports proven results.
  • Proven ability to manage changing priorities and multiple assignments. 
  • Proven ability to positively influence and motivate others in the adoption and implementation of change management regarding learning.
  • Proven ability to earn respect and credibility with all levels of management and leadership.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skill resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of management and employee population.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • P&C Insurance industry training experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Learning, HR or related discipline or commensurate experience.  Professional HR certification (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) and/or training certification(s) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards. 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)

•    Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing, and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
•    Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
•    Ability to complete classroom instruction which may require multiple hours of standing.
•    Ability to travel as required.
•    Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
