Job Summary

Salary Range: $59,258.00-$68,146.00-$77,036.00


Westfield is seeking an experienced Research and Insights Analyst to work closely with internal partners and provide research, analytical insights, and consultation to business units in support of corporate strategies.  This professional defines clear and measurable objectives, identifies unmet information needs, and provides recommendations based on their research and analysis.  In partnership and consultation with our team of analysts, provides research services and tools that help develop, validate, test, measure the performance of, and refines concepts and plans. The analyst supports the enterprise by conducting primary and secondary research, leveraging quantitative and qualitative methodologies to inform business plans and actions.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Working under direct to moderate supervision, provides reporting and analytics on assigned projects of low complexity.

2. Identifies potential sources of data and selects the appropriate data to meet business requirements.

3. Working under direct to moderate supervision, extracts and prepares data to ensure the most complete, highest quality data is used.

4. Develops knowledge and experience with relevant tools, technologies, and techniques to perform basic to moderate analyses.

5. Begins utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis to derive findings and advises recipients (e.g. ARC leadership, business units) of potential impacts, options, and provides recommendations.

6. Begins developing critical thinking skills used in understanding data, business concepts, and analytical concepts.

7. Incorporates the use of data, where appropriate, to effectively communicate basic to moderate analytical and business concepts and content.

8. Collaborates with partners to create data needed.

9. Develops and maintains awareness and knowledge of internal and external business activities, trends, best practices, and tools.

10. Proactively develops relationships and fosters collaboration with key partners within the organization.

11. Identifies opportunities for improvement of processes and supports process improvement efforts.

12. Creates and maintains accurate procedure documentation and reference materials.

13. Travels as needed in order to perform other essential functions.


Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. Professional analytical work experience with demonstrated ability to provide reporting and analytics of basic to moderate complexity. For research and insights focused roles, market research experience along with analytical work experience is desired.

2. Demonstrated strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

3. Ability to pass required assessment.

4. Knowledge of financial, statistical, and mathematical concepts used in business analysis (e.g., regression, correlation and covariance, multivariate analysis) including exposure to advanced statistical concepts (e.g. discrete event simulation, predictive analytics, data mining).

5. Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or related field or commensurate insurance experience.

6. Proficiency in two or more of the following software packages (or similar products):  Excel, Cognos, SPSS, SAS, Arena, ESRI, ILOG, Tableau.

7. Demonstrated interest and ability in expanding knowledge and skills.

8. Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to distill and communicate technical and analytical materials to non-technical/non-analytical audience.

9. Previous insurance background or business data analysis background a plus.

10. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

• Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).

• Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail etc.

• Ability to travel as required.

• Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
