Test Engineer 2 Job Summary

Salary Range:  $74,306 - $96,598

Location:  Westfield Center, OH Home Office or Remote Worker within operating territory.

 

The Test Engineer 2 works under moderate supervision and oversight to deliver automation and/or performance solutions.  Uses standard processes to code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes using a blend of both development and testing skills to drive quality and efficiency. At this level, the Test Engineer 2 will learn to begin designing.

 

A Test Engineer 2 can support a variety of technologies that may include, but are not limited to, the following - UI Automation: Selenium, API Automation: Postman, Visual Studio, and related tools and Performance: LoadRunner and related tools.

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

  1. Works under moderate supervision and oversight to deliver automation and/or performance solutions.
  2. Translates business and system requirements into technical requirements and design documents for the proposed solution. Typically works on assignments of moderate complexity.
  3. Uses standard processes to code, test, and enable automation for software programs and applications.
  4. Contributes to estimates and performs coding for custom-developed applications.
  5. Supports the overall delivery of business value by implementing pace and efficiency opportunities.
  6. Works to increase their understanding of automation and/or performance testing best practices.
  7. Performs coding and unit testing for custom-developed applications and provides support to existing applications.
  8. Participates in requirements reviews and test plan coordination.
  9. Adheres to software development lifecycle and service management processes.
  10. Participates and provides input to strategic direction of automation and/or performance discipline.
  11. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant technology, tools, processes and related best practices.
  12. May coordinate projects or initiatives of moderate complexity. 
  13. Coaches and mentors less experienced Test Engineers, as well as coordinates medium to large projects or initiatives typically on current team.
  14. Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations. 

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

  1. 3+ years of experience in application programming and/or coding (e.g. Java, XML, SQL, JSON, Visual Studio, .NET).
  2. 1+ years of experience learning and implementing modern testing tools (e.g. Tosca).
  3. Familiar with Agile and CI concepts.
  4. Working knowledge of testing best practices gained through previous work experiences.
  5. Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing previous work assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
  6. Experience analyzing problems and developing strategies for resolution gained through previous work assignments.
  7. Knowledge and/or experience with various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
  8. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. Bachelor’s degree in a technical (e.g. computer science, information systems, engineering) field or commensurate experience.
  10. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to travel as required.
